Finally figured out what this psychedelic gem is. It turns out the version from the mix was edited down. The full-length version goes even deeper.

Original melody, it turns out, is the original theme to Jungle Taitei aka Kimba The White Lion by Isao Tomita.

I’ve heard some pretty drugged-out 60’s tunes but this takes the cake…

Randomly found this on Megaupload last week… not sure where it was originally posted. Love the way the synth parts at 1:10 and 3:42 contrast with the rest of the tune.

Somehow hadn’t heard this early EP by The Avalanches… Fun stuff.

After a nearly 20 year career, producing for Primal Scream, Two Lone Swordsmen, and being one of the absolute best remixers in the world, Andrew Weatherall has finally released his own solo album, vocals and all.

It’s sort of got this 1990s-music-made-in-the-2010s feel. It’s not playing to any current trends (and hardly anyone is talking about it) but it is very forward-thinking in many ways. And of course, the production quality can’t be touched.

Another one from Compressie Slag, quite different from “Fracties”. Warning: This tune will melt your brain (for me, in a good way) and you have to be patient to see there is a method to the madness. It’s not for everybody.
